They have two chances...SLIM and NONE (and slim just left town)
Seriously though, I can't speak for other WHA cities, but for Halifax I think the ticket prices will be the main reason as to why it won't work. Yes we love hockey, but Haligonians are not going to shell out (or at least consistently shell out) 30, 40 or even 60 bucks to see a bunch of guys going through the motions. Lots of people around here simply don't have that kind of money to throw around. Especially not when we have a junior team offering affordable exciting hockey (well...exciting most of the time anyway!) with kids that have everything to prove and who just cannot afford to go through the motions. As a collector, of course I'll buy the merch as soon as it becomes available. Hockey-wise though, the Icebreakers will be LUCKY to complete a season (if this thing gets off the ground at all)..I don't think the Mooseheads have anything to worry about, even though the Icebreakers represent their first real financial competition. If nothing else, this WHA thing makes for some interesting off-season discussions :) |
